Consensus Reality

When you have consensus on your side, it's easy to argue your point of view. This is basically the position of major media.

In fact, I've spent countless hours over the last 20 years punching holes in that consensus, on a variety of issues.

Basically, when you're backed up by official or official-seeming opinion, you say with a confident smirk: X is true; after all, the best analysis, spread over a wide area, thinks so.

And that pretty much ends it.

Why?

Because most people want the comfort of believing in a widely shared belief. That's how most people operate.

Hence, media anger at the Internet, which represents the fracturing of consensus...
